Harley-Davidson Six-Speed Transmission Rebuild & CryoHeat Performance Service

Turn Your OEM Harley-Davidson Six-Speed Transmission Into a CryoHeat Loaded Transmission

Your Harley-Davidson makes the power.

Your transmission has to put that power to the ground.

Every hard acceleration, highway pull, gear change, aggressive ride, and mile on the road puts stress through the transmission.

So why settle for simply rebuilding your OEM six-speed transmission?

Send it to CryoHeat and turn it into a CryoHeat Loaded Transmission.

We take your OEM Harley-Davidson six-speed transmission through an extensive inspection, cleaning, CryoHeat treatment, Micropolishing, gear and shifter upgrades, precision shimming, and professional reassembly.

The result is a transmission built around one goal:

Make Your Harley Transmission Perform Better.

This Isn't Just a Transmission Rebuild

A conventional transmission rebuild puts worn components back into service and gets the transmission operating again.

A CryoHeat Loaded Transmission takes the process much further.

Your transmission is completely torn down, cleaned, inspected, tested for hidden damage, CryoHeat treated, Micropolished, upgraded with new 3rd and 4th gears and a new shifter dog ring, precisely shimmed, and professionally reassembled.

Every step has a purpose.

Inspect the metal.

Treat the metal.

Improve the surfaces.

Upgrade the critical components.

Precisely set the clearances.

Put it all back together correctly.

That's the CryoHeat difference.

What Happens to Your Harley-Davidson Transmission?

Your transmission goes through a comprehensive process before it comes back to you.

1. Complete Teardown & Inspection

Your OEM six-speed transmission is completely disassembled so the individual components can be inspected.

We don't want to simply assume your transmission is healthy.

We want to see what's actually inside it.

2. Intensive Cleaning

Every component receives intensive cleaning before the inspection and treatment process.

This allows our technicians to properly evaluate the condition of the transmission components.

3. Shaft Inspection

Transmission shafts are inspected to ensure they are straight and true.

A performance transmission needs properly aligned components.

4. Detailed Visual Inspection

Every component is visually inspected.

Damaged areas, questionable blemishes, and components requiring further examination are identified before the transmission moves forward.

Magnetic Particle Inspection

Find What Your Eyes Can't See

Some damage isn't obvious during a normal visual inspection.

That's why questionable ferrous components are sent through Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).

MPI is a non-destructive inspection method used to identify microscopic cracks, fractures, and other discontinuities in ferrous metal components.

If a component is found to have damage that compromises its integrity, it can be replaced at an additional charge.

We'd rather find a problem on the workbench than have you find it on the road.

CryoHeat Treatment

80 Hours at -320°F

Once the components have passed inspection, they undergo the CryoHeat process.

CryoHeat describes its process as molecular stress relieving designed to strengthen the metal without changing its hardness.

The treatment process lasts approximately 80 hours and reaches temperatures of -320°F.

The objective is to optimize the material characteristics of the components before they go back into your transmission.

CryoHeat reports:

25% Stronger Metal

CryoHeat reports approximately 25% stronger metal following its treatment process.

Up to 250% Longer Service Life

CryoHeat reports the potential for up to 250% longer component service life, depending on the component and application.

Improved Material Stability

The process is designed to relieve residual stresses within the metal without simply making the component harder or more brittle.

The goal isn't to make the metal harder for the sake of being harder.

The goal is to make the material better prepared for the job it's being asked to do.

Micropolishing

Less Than 2RA Surface Roughness

After CryoHeat treatment, applicable transmission components undergo Micropolishing.

CryoHeat's Micropolishing process brings treated surfaces to a roughness average of less than 2RA.

That's an incredibly smooth surface.

The purpose?

Reduce friction and drag.

Smoother surfaces allow components to move against one another with less resistance.

Less friction can mean:

  • Reduced drag

  • Reduced heat generated by friction

  • Smoother component movement

  • Improved efficiency

  • Cleaner, longer-lasting lubrication

Your engine produces the horsepower.

Micropolishing helps reduce the amount of that horsepower being wasted fighting friction inside the transmission.

New 3rd & 4th Gears + Shifter Dog Ring

As part of the CryoHeat Loaded Transmission build, new 3rd and 4th gears and a new shifter dog ring are installed.

These aren't insignificant components.

They're part of the hardware responsible for gear engagement and shifting.

CryoHeat also uses back-cut gears designed for stronger engagement and reduced false-neutral issues as part of its loaded transmission approach.

The goal:

More confident engagement.

Smoother shifting.

Better transmission performance.

Precision Shimming

Get the Clearance Right

Proper transmission assembly isn't just about putting the components back where they came from.

Clearance and alignment matter.

CryoHeat uses custom shims between gears for proper clearance and alignment, unless CryoHeat-branded gears are being used that do not require shims.

That attention to detail matters when you're building a transmission intended to perform.

A Transmission Designed to Shift Better

One of the first things riders notice about a transmission is how it shifts.

A CryoHeat Loaded Transmission is designed to provide:

  • Smoother shifting

  • Stronger gear engagement

  • Reduced friction

  • Reduced drag

  • Proper gear clearance

  • Improved lubrication characteristics

CryoHeat reports an RA value of 2 or less on applicable surfaces as part of its Micropolishing process.

The goal is simple:

Make the transmission feel better every time you shift.

Put More of Your Engine's Power to the Ground

Here's where things get really interesting.

CryoHeat reports that its standard polished transmission can put approximately 2 additional horsepower to the ground compared with a stock transmission, while noting that some other transmission components can consume horsepower through drivetrain losses.

We're not adding horsepower to your engine.

We're working to reduce the amount of power lost inside the transmission.

That's the difference.

Your engine makes the power.

Your transmission transfers it.

CryoHeat helps optimize the path between the two.

Built for Harley-Davidson Riders Who Demand More

This isn't about making a transmission that merely works.

It's about building a transmission for riders who care about:

  • Performance

  • Shifting quality

  • Durability

  • Reduced friction

  • Proper component inspection

  • Precision assembly

  • Long-term drivetrain performance

Whether you're building a high-performance Harley, running serious horsepower, putting big miles on your bike, or simply want to upgrade your OEM six-speed transmission while it's apart, a CryoHeat Loaded Transmission gives you a performance-focused alternative to a basic rebuild.
